You may make your modest whitetail decoy way more interesting with only a few easy modifications. Here’s what I do to seal the deal for enraged bucks.
Supplies
- Tail wagger deer equipment (tail-wagger.com)
- Tent pegs (metallic or plastic)
- Mesh knapsack or shoulder strap
- White paint and small brush
- 4 C-cell batteries
- Path digicam (optionally available)
- A big 3⁄8” U-bolt with 4 nuts
Instruments
- Hacksaw blade
- Sandpaper
- Small spherical file
- Wrench
- Small screws
Repair 1: Tape the ears
For security, ought to a wandering hunter come by, add six-inches of orange tape to every ear with a small screw. A breeze can even create ear-twitch-like motion.
Repair 2: Set up a tail wagger
My tail wagger equipment was about $50 US, plus delivery. A reasonable tail is included. The battery pack will be secured contained in the stomach.
• Drill two 3⁄8-inch holes within the rear above the tail and sand any tough edges. These can be used for a U-bolt that protects the delicate tail wagger throughout transport.
• Drill two extra holes decrease down. One for the tail wagger swivel pin, and the opposite to carry the wagger to the decoy
• Set up motor contained in the decoy securing it with a 3⁄8-inch bolt. Don’t bend the swivel pin as you thread it via the outlet.
• Add white paint to increase white areas round the tail and underbelly. This helps the transferring tail stand out. Paint the U-bolt. After paint has dried, use scent-free wipes to take away scent.
Repair 3: Safe the ft
Tie cords round every leg on the hoof so tent pegs will be used to safe the decoy within the subject.
Repair 4: Trim the antler
Trim two to 4 inches from the antler tines and sand the tough edges. Smaller antlers entice a bigger buck.
Repair 5: Add a digicam
A digicam is only for enjoyable. You by no means know what is going to present up. I set up a digicam on the deer’s brow and set it to motion-detect choice.
