Over an extended weekend, I found a compact, fascinating, and extremely photogenic metropolis, the place distinctive trendy artwork met a deep obsession with all issues medieval, alongside delicate echoes of its communist previous. For those who solely have two days on this gorgeous gem, listed here are the locations I like to recommend squeezing in…

I began with the elegant and bustling Wenceslas Sq., positioned within the coronary heart of Prague’s New City. With its cobbled streets lined by towering historic buildings and an intricate central fountain, I discovered it to be a lovely and chic spot which had lengthy been a focus of town’s cultural, political, and (typically very enjoyable!) social life.

Busy with crowds and bustling with retailers, cafés, and eating places, I particularly beloved the Statue of Saint Wenceslas and the grandeur of the Nationwide Museum, which stood proudly at one finish. It regarded much more spectacular at night time, superbly illuminated towards town skyline

I believed the Kampa Museum was simply so distinctive! Housed in a historic mill constructing on Kampa Island (alongside the picturesque banks of the Vltava River), this modern artwork museum was house to a formidable assortment of recent Czech artwork.

I beloved how the museum supplied a captivating glimpse into the nation’s very attention-grabbing and sometimes on the market creative heritage!

From summary sculptures to avant-garde work, every exhibit supplied a novel perspective on Czech tradition and creativity, and I simply adored the enormous crawling infants with the unusual heads (though they have been barely scary!) – which have been sculptures by David Černý – and the bronze males with the very lengthy arms, pictured above!

I discovered later from the museum information that the eerie child sculptures have been a commentary on trendy society, expertise, and the lack of id, however to me they completely summed up Prague’s quirky, rebellious spirit!

5. Museum of Communism

I noticed that the Citadel District (which is a UNESCO World Heritage website) was probably the most fashionable areas, and its steep labyrinth of cobbled streets was full of intrigued vacationers and lined with quirky memento retailers, ye olde type taverns, unbelievable historic buildings and as soon as I reached the highest of the district, some really spectacular views!

The world was full of unbelievable sights, and my favorites included the imposing Prague Citadel, the hovering spires and complicated Gothic façade of St. Vitus Cathedral, the elegant Renaissance-style Schwarzenberg Palace with its serene gardens, and Golden Lane, which supplied an enthralling glimpse into the each day lives of medieval craftsmen and artisans!

I particularly beloved the Strahov Monastery, a peaceable haven full of a shocking library, historical manuscripts, and ornate frescoes. For lunch, we embraced the medieval expertise – sitting on wood benches and having fun with a hearty soup served in a carved-out bread roll, which felt splendidly genuine!

We visited the enduring and splendidly whimsical Dancing Home because the sundown. Designed by famend architects Frank Gehry and Vlado Milunić, I found a playful trendy architectural marvel positioned alongside the banks of the Vltava River that starkly contrasted the capital’s historic skyline.

With its unconventional design and playful curves, I beloved that the extremely Instagrammable constructing embodied town’s spirit of great creativity and innovation!

Hanging out within the Tv Tower!

We completed our very beautiful Prague weekend journey ascending to high of the imposing Žižkov Tv Tower. This placing architectural landmark pierced the Prague skyline and stood tall and proud within the vibrant Žižkov district!

Crawling with these unusual faceless infants I saved seeing all over the place (by Czech artist David Černý), to me it represented town’s dynamic and trendy aspect.

As soon as on the high (fortunately through a really high-speed elevator), we noticed unbelievable sweeping views of Prague’s cityscape from the statement deck which was positioned at 93 meters. I might see a lot of historic landmarks, scenic parks, and bustling neighbourhoods sprawled out earlier than me.

Lastly, it was time to depart, and from the timeless great thing about Prague Citadel to the avant-garde attraction of the fascinating Dancing Home, my weekend getaway in Prague was a journey full of surprise, discovery, and many quirky creativity (which was my favorite half)!
